How to Care for Your Socks
Share
Luxury isn’t just about how something feels the first time you wear it. It’s about how it endures — and how you look after it.
At half british, we design our socks to last. But with the right care, they’ll stay soft, comfortable, and dependable for far longer. Here’s how to make the most of them.
1. Wash with care
Machine wash cold or at 30°.
Use a gentle cycle with similar colours.
Turn socks inside out to reduce friction.
2. Skip the tumble dryer
Heat and friction wear fibres down. Air dry your socks flat for best results — it’s gentler on the fabric and better for the planet.
3. Avoid ironing
Alpaca and wool fibres don’t need pressing. They’ll hold their shape naturally if cared for properly.
4. Dry cleaning (if you prefer)
Our socks are suitable for professional dry cleaning, though everyday washing at home is more than enough.
Why this matters
Caring for your socks isn’t just about preserving softness — it’s about honouring the fibres themselves. Noble fibres like alpaca and wool are naturally resilient, but they’ll always reward gentle treatment.
Our philosophy
Longevity is the real luxury. When you choose half british, you’re choosing essentials designed to stay with you — not just for a season, but for years. With simple care, they’ll prove that fewer, better things really do last longer.
Founder’s note
Growing up, I was taught to respect materials — to take care of them so they could take care of you. That same idea runs through half british. Luxury isn’t fragile. It’s resilient, if you give it the right attention.
